Distributors often ask whether to stock off-road or mountain e-bikes. The honest answer: they serve different riders, and a mixed lineup usually sells better than a single bet.

Mountain e-bikes (MTB) are pedal-assist trail bikes for recreation and sport. They prioritize range, suspension and climbing ability, and they fit the largest existing dealer channel.

Off-road e-bikes are the moto-style segment - aggressive geometry, high torque, larger tires and stronger brakes for dirt, jumps and utility riding. They appeal to younger riders and markets where motorcycle licensing is a barrier.

Stocking advice: open with mountain for dealer penetration, add off-road as a second line where the market skews young or where motorcycle culture is strong. Both share the same battery, motor and spare-parts ecosystem, which keeps your after-sales cost down.
